AI Visual Identity Experiment

June 17, 2026 Visual Identity · AI Image Generation 45 min

What does my name look like when I give it a material, a texture, a world? Using AI image generation to explore different visual languages for the same three words: Jennifer Qian.

Output · Gel Letter Style
Jennifer Qian — gel letter AI generation

Generated with AI · Gel / gloss letter style · Pink ground

Style Dimensions Explored
Material
Gel / Gloss
Letters as 3D objects: transparent, refractive, wet. The surface catches light and drops liquid shine. Typography becomes sculpture.
Prompt element: "glossy gel letters, transparent resin, water droplets, specular highlight, 3D render"
Color
Hot Pink Ground
Ground and letterform share the same hue family, making the letters feel grown from the surface, not placed on it. Monochrome depth.
Prompt element: "hot pink background, pink gel letters, tonal composition, candy-core palette"
Form
Bubbly / Rounded
Letterforms puff and expand: rounded corners, organic inflation. Familiar but exaggerated, like childhood lettering taken to a material extreme.
Prompt element: "rounded bubble letters, inflated type, soft corners, Groovy retro style"
Prompt Used
Midjourney v6.0 · Raw Style

3D typographic design, two lines of text: first line reads "Jennifer", second line reads "Qian". The letters are made of transparent, high-viscosity pink liquid gel, glossy jelly texture, clear water droplet melting effect with strong surface tension, creating thick organic fluid forms. The text looks like raised, smooth wet gloss blobs. Impeccable smooth curves, clear water refraction highlights and soft shadows on the edges. The entire composition is set against a matching solid, flat matte hot pink background (#ff1aa8). Monochromatic palette, studio lighting, macro shot, extreme high-end graphic design poster aesthetic, sleek and modern --ar 4:3 --v 6.0 --style raw

What I Learned
What worked
Giving the AI a material (gel, resin) rather than a style name produced more specific results. "Gloss" triggered lighting logic: specular highlights, refraction, drop shadow. Typography alone doesn't generate this. The name became an object, not a typeface.
What I'm still figuring out
Letter accuracy degrades as the name gets longer. "Jennifer" held up well. "Qian" with the tilde (Ñ) required multiple rounds. AI struggles with names it wasn't trained to see. That's a design constraint to design around, not through.
